Shasta County down payment assistance
Shasta County Housing and Community Action Programs runs down payment assistance for qualified first-time buyers. The county sets the income rules, loan terms and the areas the program covers, and they change, so confirm each one with the county before you plan around it.
How to start
- Choose a mortgage lender and get a pre-qualification letter.
- Contact the county's Housing and Community Action Programs office and ask about the program, current availability and any wait list.
- Check that the home you want is in the area the program covers.
- Come talk to me about homes that fit the program. The home, price and offer need to work within its rules.
